What Is Pay Per Click?

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is one of the most profitable ways of making money online. Pay per click marketing is also the quickest and cheapest way to get your product in front of a global audience.

What is Pay Per Click? Pay Per Click is simply a form of advertising that charge you a pre-determined amount every time someone clicks on an ad you create. You simply write a small text ad and then select the keywords that you want to use for your campaign. Your ads are then displayed in the search engines according to what people are searching for. (i.e. If someone search for "dog food" and you're bidding on the term "dog food", your ad will be displayed when someone searches for that phrase.)

There are several search engines that you can use. Yahoo pay per click and Google pay per click (Adwords) are the top. I would suggest Google Adwords since they are top dog.

There are several advantages to using PPC compared to other forms of marketing.

Its Quick - One advantage is with organic search or non paid search results can take several months to get you listed on the 1st page even with great SEO content. With PPC you have the ability to reach your target market instantly. No matter what you're selling, you have a chance, in 10 minutes, to start making sales. What other advertising platform let's you make a sale that fast?

Testing is easy - Another benefit of PPC advertising is that you can test new business ideas quickly and cheaply by running an ad campaign for a few hours and monitoring its results. Make a few tweaks and you can find a winning ad that is making money, while dumping an ad that is not creating sales. This alone can save you thousands of dollars in advertising and product creation.

Extremely Targeted - You only advertise to people who are looking for what you are selling. If you're advertising the keyword dog training, you will only get people interested in dog training to see your site. You won't get people looking for dog food or digital cameras. This saves you tons of money on wasted advertising.

Efficient - The best advantage of all is that you only pay when people respond and click through to your site. If someone sees your ad, but doesn't click on it, you are not charged. You are only charged when they click through to your site.

Geographic Targeting - With Pay Per Click you can use geographic location targeting. You may only want to do local ads or you may want to advertise in specific countries. With PPC you can determine when(what time of day) and where your ad is displayed.

Affordable - PPC allows you to bid against other advertisers on the amount you are willing to pay for each time some one clicks on your ad. Price is determined by an on-going real time auction based on true market values. You can bid as little as .05 a click. Now if your in a competitive niche, you may have to bid more, but for some of your keywords you may be ale to get away with that amount.

The most important thing to know about PPC is keywords. Keyword advertisement are , terms advertisers use to trigger their ads on Google. An ad is 4 lines of text, beginning with a title. The title can only be 25 characters long including spaces. Lines 2 and 3 are the ad text which is used to describe what you're selling and should be no more than 35 characters long including spaces and punctuation. The 4th line of your ad is called your display URL, this is the website address. Here is an example of a PPC ad in Google.

Learn PPC for Dummies - Title

Increase Traffic To Your Website - ad text

With Targeted Ads. Learn How Now! - ad text

Arichplayer.com/PayPerClick.html - display URL

This would be an example of a Pay Per Click ad. If someone clicks on this, you would be charge whatever amount you bid for the keyword or phrase that was searched that brought up this ad.

If you learn how to do PPC you can turn $.50 clicks into $100 SALES! More often than not, beginners try to do PPC with no knowledge and end up spending tons of money with no sales. The reason is they just throw up any ad and just assume that all traffic (people coming to your site) is good traffic.

In order to be successful at this you must do keyword research and test your ads.
