You want a Network Marketing company that has a product that is consumed every month such as juice or bottle of pills, or some kind of monthly service. This is how your residual income is built. If the product was consumed every couple of months you would make much less money.

Leaders

No top mlm company is without great leaders. What really makes a great leader, is necessarily the person who makes the most money? Don't ignore people who are not necessarily the biggest money earners but are investing in themselves in education and imparting value to you and the industry at large.

The best leaders are those who develop the most skills and have the most value to impart to you. The best leaders are those who have the best information to help you make your own money. In mlm it really is better to learn how to fish yourself, then have your upline leader fish for you. What happens when your upline leader moves to a different company? A top mlm company will have leaders to help you shorten your learning curve.

Your personal goal should be to become a leader yourself. When you become a leader you attract people to you. You are in a position then to help your team become leaders. The more leaders you have who has great value to offer the more money you make.

Word of caution: Don't demand that your sponsor be making tons of money. It doesn't matter the money your sponsor is making, what matters is the business opportunity and what you will do with it.

Another concept you must know is your upline doesn't make you money. Your downline makes you money. Your job is to help your downline succeed and not worry about what your upline is doing or not doing.

Don't expect to find everything you need within your company. Your company will have a website for you to use but don't only use that if you are marketing on the net.

If you are lucky your company has a good lead generation system. Most likely they don't and rely on leaders to learn it.

Isn't it better anyway to learn how to generate your own leads? If for some reason your company goes out of business you can pick up with another company and still make money.

Talking Point or Unique Selling Point

These are points that make the company special and stand out from the crowd. It also helps you show you have a competitive advantage. A good advantage an mlm company will have is longevity. There is nothing wrong with start up companies, some big money earners seek out start ups. If a company has been in business for 10 years or longer you know they will most likely be around in the foreseeable future.

Product

A top mlm company has good products. With that said product is not everything. There is no such thing as a perfect product.

Most people join Network Marketing to make a lot of money.

Of course you need to feel good about the product and be able to sleep at night knowing that it is not a rip off.

If you don't know how to market your product it doesn't matter how great it is if people don't know about it and why they should have it.

Maybe you have a product that completely cures cancer and diabetes and brings people back from the dead; but it does you no good if you don't know how to market it.

Compensation Plan

You shouldn't worry about every nitty gritty detail about the compensation plan. It should be explained to you well enough that you know whether you will make peanuts or a lot of money.

Generally speaking, if you realize that if you work hard enough and smart you will make good money no matter what you understand about the compensation plan.

Training

Training ranks very high in importance. A top mlm company has the best training. This training is a lot more than hype of why network marketing is so important or why XYZ company is so great.

People fail because the training they received sucked.

Not all is lost if your company does not provide the kind of training you want. In fact you don't want to receive training from only your company. If you are serious about making big money you will find knowledge everywhere you can.
